We hear it constantly: "I want to change the windows but I do not want to tear up the house." That is a fair worry — conventional replacement means removing the old frame, which usually breaks the surrounding plaster and forces a repaint of the room.
What is a renovation frame?
In this system we leave the old frame in place, removing only the sashes and glass, then install a new frame designed to encase the old one from outside. The result: the plaster is untouched, the paint is unaffected, and the work finishes in hours rather than days.
When does it work?
- When the old frame is firmly fixed in the wall and does not move.
- When the frame is free of severe rust or corrosion.
- When the opening is large enough — encasing reduces the glazed area by a few centimetres on each side.
- In apartments and upper floors where removing debris is difficult and costly.
And when does it not?
- When the old frame is degraded or loose — nothing built on it will hold.
- When the opening is already small, since losing a few centimetres affects daylight.
- When water is leaking around the old frame — the cause must be treated, not covered.
- When you are fundamentally changing the shape of the opening or the opening system.
Cost: cheaper or more expensive?
A renovation frame is usually lower in total cost — not because the frame is cheaper, but because you avoid making-good, repainting and debris removal. The frame itself may be slightly more expensive, since its profile is purpose-designed for the job.
How we decide during the measurement visit
The technician checks the stability of the old frame by loading it, inspects its perimeter for signs of leakage or cracking, and measures the clear opening assuming the encasement. On those three points they tell you plainly whether this solution suits you — and if it does not, exactly why.
Send us a photo of your window from inside and outside on WhatsApp with the word "قياس", and we will give you an initial opinion even before the visit.
